Oz-Tac Engineering was founded by Gary Edwards, Luke Edwards and Ty Horne in July 2003. The idea for Oz-Tac was born after noticing a demand in the industry for onsite project maintenance teams and hence the company was established that same year. Over the past 14 years the company has grown from the aspiration of three men into an industry leading company employing close to 40 people. The business is now a well-established engineering and metal fabrication provider servicing the ever-growing timber, mining and quarrying, structural steel, erection and earth moving industries.
There are numerous aspects to Oz-Tac, the first being the project and maintenance teams completing major turnkey projects for timber processing and saw-milling companies.
The team start with a customer’s concept or idea and take it from a 3D designing process, through to fabrication, sandblasting & painting, installation on site and commissioning of the plant. Oz-Tac have technical teams and their own fleet of cranes for onsite installation of the plant. This helps to keep costs competitive, whilst still being able to deliver a great service in this industry.
The next aspect of the business at Oz-Tac Engineering is in the construction industry where they fabricate industrial sheds, shopping centres, accommodation blocks and everything in between.
90% of projects are built in the Gympie workshop, keeping employment and manufacturing at a local level and helping the Oz-Tac team maintain the same great quality they sought back in 2003. The Gympie workshop is the hub of the company where the steel fabrication, machining, sandblasting & painting takes place.
Luke Edwards oversees all facets of running the business, while Gary Edwards heads the workshop and Ty Horne manages all of the automated systems and PLC work that comes through the business, he is the specialist in this field and develops customised and innovative solutions to solve onsite problems.
Oz-Tac Engineering employs 15 Trade Qualified Boiler Makers, 2 Traded Sheet Metal Workers, 2 Fitters/ Hydraulic Fitters, and small number of labouring support staff, as well as the office employing an administrator who manages the accounts functions on a full time basis.
From humble beginnings a successful business has grown, through true belief and determination!
